“Enemy” is a strong word, but many of us have them. And no, our enemies don’t always look like the Lex Luthor to our Superman or the Joker to our Batman. In fact, our enemies are often people in our lives that we’ve helped before or even considered friends.
It’s easy to think that if we’re good to others, they’ll return the favor and be good to us. But unfortunately, this doesn’t always happen. People will betray you, they will let you down, they will try to sabotage you. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but it’s inevitable.
As much as we sometimes wish we could, we cannot control the behavior of others, but what we CAN control is how we react to how we are treated. We can choose to rise above the negativity, take the high road and to keep moving forward.
People may not always appreciate the help you have given them, but at the end of the day, the point of treating others well isn’t to be appreciated or to get something out of it, it’s because it’s the right thing to do!
Our character is revealed by how we treat our friends, but even more so by how we treat our enemies. Let’s focus on what we CAN control, and CHOOSE to rise above the negativity and focus on doing the right thing, and being the best versions of ourselves, no matter what the circumstances.

Prioritizing Culture
Spend any time talking with a team member of my team at Jeff Cook Real Estate and you will hear about the unique culture. We are pleased with and proud of the culture we represent. And culture isn’t something that happens at random — it is cultivated and nurtured by every single person on the team.
And every adversity gifted to us becomes a learned experience which betters us.
